The 2014 AP English Literature and Composition Exam will take place at 8:00 AM on Thursday, May 8th.
The test lasts approximately 3 hours and divided into 2 parts:
Part I: 50 to 55 multiple choice questions based on close reading of poetry and prose selections. Students have 1 hour to complete this portion. Part I is curved according to an equation devised by College Board that reflects the
difficulty of the specific exam. This section constitutes 45% of the exam grade.
Part II: Students have 120 minutes to compose 3 essays. One is over a piece of prose, one is over poetry, and one is an open question. The essays are scored on a 9 point holistic scale, and combined they constitute 55% of the exam
grade.
